Michael Papillo is a Los Angeles based band-leader, bassist and arranger. Known for his ability to bring music to life, Michael creates infectious soundscape wherever he goes.

Michael studied music at UC Santa Cruz and Cabrillo College and has gone on to pursue a number of musical projects, including acting as musical director for BodyVox Dance Company where he arranged the music of Tom Waits for the Portland Opera. Michael has also toured extensively and recorded with artists such as: Pink Martini, 3 Leg Torso, and David Grisman from the Grateful Dead.

Most recently, Michael has been touring Europe regularly with his gypsy jazz trio, Shoestring Trio, playing concerts, festivals, and private events throughout Switzerland, France, Spain and Italy. While in the US, Michael has weekly residencies in Beverly Hills and is honored to play with some of the best jazz musicians in Los Angeles. Michael is passionate about music that feels good and loves to bring that passion to his audience. Whether it be a jazz standard from the 40s, a waltz from Chopin or something off of the Billboard charts…he feels the heart in all of it.
